Matter design

-’As part of the research for the Princeton Envelope Group, this envelope was developed in pursuit of an envelope as atmosphere. As opposed to con sid er ing the enve lope as a her metic seal, this facade breaths, conditions, and cleans. This specific prototype is for the American Apparel factory build ing in Los Angeles. Because of the client has an abundance of material and knowledge in fabric, this facade was designed to be fabricated in house, and cast in place with concrete. The thermal mass of this concrete (in conjunction with the designed geometry) cools the air during the warm days in LA.’

Pushkinsky Cinema in Moscow

A film, which is a series of still images or frames moving, or also we can say, this is a “fluidity of frames”. This project is an entry for the Pushkinsky competition located in Moscow. Designed by Gabriel Aranda and Alejandro Ramos. The idea consists in a new skin or façade thought as a sunscreen façade, that works as a barrier between the weather, and the original building. The façade is divided in tree layers: the original one, a curved glazed and a sunscreen façade.

Located on the bank of an artificial pond at the exit of the metro station Osaki. The project deals with the “duality between liquid / solid, real / virtual and water ripples / light waves. Pedestrians walk over a 6 x 6 meters large LED plane, installed right on the edge of the water. The LEDs are covered with translucent glass diffusing their light. With their steps, the passers-by provoke virtual waves on the LED plane, computed in real-time. When these waves hit the edge of the pond, they are extended into the water as real ripples.

Holly Hunt Great Plains Fabric with Nanotechnology

This technology is kid proof & pet proof, which is ideal for a family life.  The Nono-Tex bonds to the fabric and does not coat it, so it allows the feeling of the textile to come through and still protect against stains.

Nono-Tex protects the surface of fabrics from spills.  Spills just stop, bead & roll.
